Alaska Native Village Municipal Lands Restoration Act of 2025
What does the HR 43 do?
HR 43 is a House bill sponsored by Rep. Nicholas Begich (R-AK). Under current law, Alaska Native Village Corporations had to convey some of their land in trust to the State of Alaska to support future municipal governments. This bill ends that requirement going forward and lets a Village Corporation reclaim land it already put in trust if no municipal government was ever established.
