What does the Lulu’s Law do?

S 1003 is a Senate bill sponsored by Sen. Katie Boyd Britt (R-AL). This bill orders the Federal Communications Commission to formally allow shark attacks to be sent out as wireless emergency alerts — the alert system defined in the FCC's existing rules (47 CFR 10.10(a)). The FCC has 180 days after the bill becomes law to issue the order. Requires the FCC to issue an order making a shark attack an event for which a wireless emergency alert may be transmitted.
